Management and Organization Studies
Typically, this work involves a review and evaluation of the present management and organization structure to determine its effectiveness in enabling management to achieve its business objectives. Therefore, key to achieving good results is the need for the consultant to understand the company's business objectives, history, evolution and culture.
Once these have been understood within the framework of our existing knowledge and understanding of (a) the global minerals and processing industry and (b) the particular commodity or commodity groups being produced by the client, we seek to understand (1) the principal requirements of the company to achieve success, (2) the principal management and business issues, (3) how the organization is supposed to work and (4) how it actually works.
Following that, we develop evaluation criteria and evaluate the management structure against these criteria. We then develop organizational alternatives, assess these against the criteria and rank the alternatives.
Through the process we keep top management informed of our work programs and our thinking as it evolves. We then prepare a draft report containing our evaluation of the existing plan of organization, as well as the organization alternatives, provide our recommendations and include in it a plan of implementation.
